Hot take from someone who works in AI automation: most teams are automating the wrong things.

I work in automation for business, and lately I’ve been seeing the same problem over and over. Teams are racing to automate *front-facing* stuff, AI emails, AI ads, AI content, AI chatbots, while the internal workflow underneath is still held together by spreadsheets, memory, and Slack pings. So what happens? More output. Same chaos. Leads come in faster, but follow-ups still break. Campaigns scale, but reporting is still manual. AI writes content, but no one knows what actually shipped or converted. The automation itself works. The system around it doesn’t. What actually creates leverage isn’t automating the flashy parts, it’s automating the boring internal handoffs nobody wants to touch because they “still work”. Ironically, those are the ones quietly eating the most time and causing the most errors. Curious if others are seeing the same thing: are people using AI to *move faster into broken systems* instead of fixing the systems first?
