Everyone talks about AI replacing developers. Here's what actually happened to me. I had a CRM project. Started 2019, one developer, 80 commits/month. By summer 2024 - zero commits, at least a year left. Plugged in AI winter 2025. Done in 2 months. Then things got weird. March 2026, my setup: * 17 AI agents running 24/7 * 12 parallel projects (used to handle 3 max) * 1,400+ commits this month across 39 repos * Best year before AI: 80 commits/month in one repo Task tracker numbers: |Month|Tasks created|Avg close time| |:-|:-|:-| |Jan|69|26 days| |Feb|211|4 days| |Mar|295|1.6 days| My morning: 25 notifications, 8 PRs from agents, 3 overnight reports. Agents don't sleep. The flip: before AI, 80% coding and 20% thinking. Now 80% thinking, reviewing, deciding. Thinking 8 hours straight is way harder than coding. I didn't lose my job. I got the job of ten people. Nine of those are management, not development. Curious if anyone else hit this "productivity trap" — where AI tools made you do MORE work, not less. https://reddit.com/link/1s7qs82/video/xix8rypkr6sg1/player
